New Rack And Pinion, Tires And Rough Idle
2004 supercab lariat 5.4 liter. Built January 2004 Purchased on 02/26/2004
At 3,000 miles all 4 tires and rack and pinion had to be replaced due to a very bad side to side movement on the steering wheel from 50mph to 80mph. I have never taken the truck offroading, I pamper it.
Truck spent 10 days in the dealer, picked up 2 days ago with 3,100 miles and still vibrates. Spoke with the service manager, he said that he and the technician droved it extensively and noticed no problem. After trying to jerk me around for 30 minutes on the phone he said that he would contact an engineer to se what else could be done.
Truck also had the a/c control unit replaced.
Also while in idle with the a/c on or off the truck idles rough, like if it was misfiring. The service manager told me that since this engine has so many computers adjusting for exaust gases ect, that maybe that is the way it is. My reply was that i fired up a new one on the lot and it did not do this at all. He will also tell this to the engineer.
I all else fails I'm at least 10 days closer to invoking the lemon law.

Good luck. If you search the forum you'll find several of us who are experiencing the same problem. I've been trying since November to get the vibration/shimmy problem resolved. I have the lemon law paper work filled out but was hoping someone would post a fix. I'd keep the truck if Ford would fix the problem.
