Is a K&N air filter ok to use in a 2001 PSD? I wonder if I should us the factory or go with a upgrade one that will give my truck more air.

If you go aftermarket go with a foam filter like amsoil or western diesel. There has been alot of discussions about how much dirt they let in the engine verified by oil analysis.

Ok I am not that educated on the PSD, but is the foam filter like the one that I used to have in my dirt bike? If so how does it catch more dirt than a K&N? Like I said I am not that educated on this. I love my truck I want only the best for it, I think I may be a little **** with my questions, but you never know till you ask what you don't know. thank you so much for your reply.

The oiled foam filters are similar to the ones used in dirtbikes. In my opinion they are far superior than gauze. Many poeple I have talked to had better results in thier oil analysis after switching from a K&N to an oiled foam. Go to www.westerndiesel.com and look at thier flow chart which was done by an independant lab. They can better explain. I'm using a western diesel filter and love it.

I have the K&N and have not received any noticeable performance difference over the stock Ford filter. However, I am going to switch to the foam style after reading the recommendations posted on this board.
