Barry, My 93 F150 goes into 4X4 as soon as you push the button up to at least 25mph or so. Did yours have push button or the shifter on the floor?

okay just checking. Mine is for sale now but I wish it would've had the lever on the floor with auto hubs because it seems more reliable than the button on the dash.

I'm having a similar problem. F250, 6.0 diesel.

Hubs on auto....no change with SOTF turned from 2x to 4x. Operates as 2WD either way.
Hubs on Manual...2WD on the SOTF dial...operates as 2WD.
HUBS On Maunal...4WD on the SOTF dial....operates as 4WD with loud grinding.

What in the heck is going on?

Fairbanks here, btw.

sounds like your 4x4 is engaging properly, but dirty or bad hubs may be causing the grinding if you only hear it with the hubs locked and in 4wd
