Question 351M or Cleveland? How do I tell?

I recently purchased a clean 79'Ford F150 Supercab. Great truck, but no factory air. Summer's rollin around and I want to put AC in it. Trying to ID the engine so I can get the right system for the truck. I've got that it's a 351, but after that is where I start getting confused. Everything I'm reading points to a cleveland,(vert. mounting bolts on fuel pump, 8 bolts on valve covers, water inlet on block)but then I keep reading about this "M" business. Then I contact the AC manufacturer (Arizona Mobile Air) and they tell me according to their books my truck should have a Windsor. More confusion! They fax me their diagrams and my engine matches the cleveland setup. I'm pretty sure it's not a Windsor, but what is the diff. between the cleveland and M. and is there a diff as far as AC brackets go? Any help is appreciated.

"their books my truck should have a Windsor"
their books are wrong, its a 351M if its a US truck. the 351W was not put in trucks untill 81 or 82.
I think most brackets interchange between the 351M/400 and 351C.]

Hi and welcome to the forum
You should have a 351M. The 351C was only made from late 69 to 74 and was never installed in a truck.
The 351C and 351M look very similiar. The M block is a little taller and wider than the lod Cleveland blocks. The 351W wasn't available until the early 80's I believe.
I am quite confident that you have a 351M.

Jimmy

The 3rd digit in your VIN# should be H for 351M or S for 400 (which is the same externaly as a 351M)
