Angry

I have the same problem. Vehicle had cam tensioner replaced before I bought it. Then @ about 68k I had the same part replaced under Ford extended warranty. At 75k I had the "lower cassette" replaced for same noise. Guess what... the engine is beginning to make the same noise again! I'd appreciate any help anyone could offer. Thanks!

I had my chain tensioner replaced under warranty at about 30K miles because of lifter noise. It fixed the problem. Now at 75K I am hearing a rattle in the front of my engine (also a 4.0 SHOC in my 99). I will probably take my car in to have it checked, but the sound is not the same as when the chain tensioner went bad.

I'll reply if I find out more.

My 1987 Bronco II is at 167000 KM no problem what so ever still going and drove my 1989 Escort to 280000KM and still going.MY Dad always Had Ford trucks since i was a kid and my brother also so i love my Explorer dont get me wrong.

I can see lots of post about this over the past couple of days.So i am very mad that ford dosent take the time and fix this right.

So many noises

There are so many things that can make noises in the engine--its hard to distinguish sometimes. My noise went away, for now.

I have had many different cars and many different makes. One thing is clear, they all have mechanical failures. My Ford Explorer seems to be on par with most cars I've owned.
