Trans & Transfer Case Oil Change

i have a 95 expl xlt 4.0, 4x4 iwas wondering what all,s involved to change the tranny fluid & new filter/change front & rear diffs fluid,or gear oil. the guy at this one shop priced me $150-00 to $200-00 for the job, sounds redickulas. are there any hidden secrets or tricks. i cant see how its that hard or time consumming to pull a couple plugs & drain the gear oil or fluid,then refill. thanks for info,isights etc

First ,it's not that hard ,if you have done it before.
The tranfercase is easy remove skid plate if you have it,loosen the fill plug first ,just in case its frozen in ,then remove drain plug (wouldn't want you to take drain plug out and not be able to get the fill plug out)seen it happen to someone.

The trans is a little different,you need to remove the front driveshaft from the front diff flange and mark it to get back in same spot(tie it up and out of the way ) you'll see why later.remove all pan bolts but 2 in the front to alow pan to tilt down in the back so fluid runs to a general area to a drain pan. let drain then remove pan and filter. put new filter in then clean old gasket from pan,put new on put pan on. refill trans starting with 3-4 quarts and add as needed when hot in park .
But that price is not really unreasonable though.

I would NOT pay the guy 200 for it. Try Jiffy lube or some other comercialy owned shop. I know several shops in my area do it for $60.
