OVERSPEED PROTECTION!!! AIR INTAKE SHUT-OFF????
The company I work for requires us to install overspeed protection on all diesel engines entering a hazardous area.
I have not been able to locate anyone that can install an automatic air intake shut-off on the engine.
Does anyone know where in the USA we can find an air intake shut-off for a 2002 Ford F-250 SuperCrew w/7.3L diesel engine?

Thanks - JoeDiesel
I'm deep South Texas.
The company is purchaseing a fleet of vehicles (diesel trucks) and we need to install this air intake shut-off through a Ford Dealer for warranty purposes.
If you lean of a company that sales the devices let me know. I've located one in England, but you would think there would someone in the Great USA.
Thanks - again

OVERSPEED PROTECTION!!! AIR INTAKE SHUT-OFF????
well Just off the top of my head I would try to use as many parts from the emergency shut down from a 2 stroke detroit diesel and probably trigger it with a mechanical belt driven govenor through either linkage or a cable. most times when companys require this backup devices they want them to be all mechanical

Might as well make good use of those emergency shutdown parts............they never seemed to work right on the old Detroits I've seen. We had one "run away" one time and my mechanic just ripped the intake plumbing off and stuck a Denver phonebook over the intake side of the turbo. A friend of mine had just purchased this old truck with an 8V-92, and he wanted to restore it. I guess we found out where we needed to start with the restoration! lol

>Wow hard for me to think of an 8v-92 as being "old" I must
>be getting over the hill
Aww shucks JoeDiesel, You're not over the hill!...........................It's a big hill anyway.
I think of those engines as classics. Awe inspiring predecessors to the technology we have now. 8V-92 Detroits, 12V-53(Buzzin-Dozen)Detroits, 3408,1693,3406A Cats, KT-series Cummins. Just all the mid to late 70's and early 80's truck engines are collectable to me. If I just had a place to keep them all!

KT Cummins,,You know the industrial kt with twin turbos put out 800hp in factory trim I always wanted to put one of those in my DM800 Mack But I figure it would have got me locked up for sure. I always liked to carry 2 truckloads at a time 120-130,000 pounds gvw. With that I probably would have tried for 3 loads 160,000 or so. I wonder how much that would cost if you get caught lol. But I'll tell you what those guys in NYC run like that I was working on a demo job up there one time and the guy had DM800s with 20,000 steering 65,000 rears a pusher lift axle pulling steel dumps that must have been 100 yard with 100,000 neway suspentions plus a lift axle on the trailer I guess he was running about 200,000. I really wish I would hqave seen what he was running for power but it sounded like a Cummins

i would see if one of the chip guys can burn chips for fuel cut at that speed/ rpm setting you want limiting the air on a psd can cause problems, thats why the exaust brakes that are more than the ebpv mod are not popular, could program that chip to make the ebpv come on also if it has to be mechanical. a combo of the ebpv and fuel cut should work good

Thats not the problem.(good idea though) We need emergency air shutoffs, cable operated from the cab, and the rear of the truck for safety, during sled pulls.
CO2 is not allowed in the rules for shut offs, but would definately work.
I actually got an email back from Singapore tonight!LOL
Found the England company, Chalwyn.
