Door Lock not working

I was leaving the store today and I hit my keyless entry button to unlock the doors, the passenger side lock didnt unlock. So I tried the button on the door and it locks the door but wont unlock the door. It looks like it tries to go but it stops about half way.

Sounds like you need a new door lock actuator.

This exact same thing happened to another guy I know. Supposedly it's a quick fix, and not a big deal. I'll find out more when I see him next.

that would be great. I've been messing with it a little and it seems to work once in a while and then it doesnt want to do anything. It looks like it just gets stuck on something or it's gumed up from something.

How do you get the door paneling off? If I could get that off it would be a big help.

I just bought a whole new door to put on my truck because it was cheaper that having a dent fixed a salesman backed into it at work. It is the driver side door it has a good used actuactor that I would be happy to send you if can tell how to get those two plugs off of it. I got the these big old biscuit grabbers for hands and Popeye arms so it's kind of hard to get my hands in there. There is a post from racerguy that details how to take the panels off. I followed that and the panel came off so eazy. Only thing I could add was the pwr window switch and pwr lock switch was easier to get off if you rotated the panel 180 degrees after everything else was off to get at the catches that release them. He said he was telling how to get take a manual panel off. I ending up cutting the wires and splicing it seemed like the thing to do. You do realize it takes two presses of the unlock button on the keyless remote to open the passenger door.

Last year my '99 had the same symptoms whereby the passenger door lock failed gradually, then the drivers side followed a few months later. After removing the actuators, I could tell immediately they were 'worn out' by comparing them to new ones. I suggest you replace with new rather than repair since you won't want to repeat this procedure any time soon. (New can be purchased for about $60-80 online.)
