This week the air bag readiness light came on in my 1997 Ford Ranger. The vehicle was not in an accident and when I turn on the ignition, no error codes are flashed. What could be the problem?
The readiness light comes on before the ECS module does its selftest. It then is used to flash codes if any are present and after all test are completed ok it goes out. A Steady light would indicate the ECS is never entering selftest. a bad module, not getting any power, or a bad ground on module would be about all I can think of.

It was on all the time for a week and now it seems to be working correctly again. I'll look for bad connections at the module and under the seat. Does anyone know where the module is located?
