Dodge SRT V10 vs. the FE powered trucks.
I think some of the Gang here in the FE Forum should talk to some of the guys on the Lightning forum..
They seemed to be worried about Putting together an L..that could beat a Dog SRT?
I resepct the 500 viper motor and running in the a 5500lb truck and being in the 12s..But hell...Anyone can go buy a truck @ 50K...
But getting an FE into the 12s with a 40 year old motor in a 40 year old truck is something to brag about..
These guys spend 20k used to 35K new for factory stuff.. and we can do it with the bodies we love.. To each his own style...
If I can get at least 450HP out of my 417/390 stroker I'LL be happy...
And if need be at a later date a simple 150HP shot wont be out of the Question!!
I Love old Iron- Russ..Sorry about the long post! Im Just ****ed!
Anyone can buy it!!! Old school..Build it! and be proud!!!! Russ

Off in the distance, I hear chanting...."Scouder, Scouder, Scouder" :-) I think he could see 12s if he kept the rubber side down. (maybe go with a little less rubber for that matter).
Better yet, let's put Scouders motor in Sean's truck and talk about 11s! I'll donate a smooth running C6.

hey this is great stuff guys, my buddy just got through fabbing a twin turbo setup on his five oh stang. should be good for low 10's. i've actually entertained the idea on the FE in my fun hundred. its actually not that hard of a set-up, and he doesnt have squat in it. maybe 1200 bucks. i guess the only thing the dodges would be gettin out of that is the sight of my tailgate disappearing right before their eyes.

Well with a manual transmission and the right gears, I have no doubt that a blown 390 could do that. Just crank up the boost!
If I even spent half of the $20k they're spending on the lightnings to get there, I have no doubt I could surpass 600hp and 700ft-lbs at the rear wheels.
Lets see...
Blower
Pulley
Cam
Heads
According to DD2k, with ported Edelbrock FE heads, the Crane 349521 cam, a paxton novi 2000, 700cfm induction flow, and 9.44:1 compression, with a 10psi boost limit, it'd be making 889hp@7000rpm, and 794ft-lbs @ 5500rpm.
Edit:
With my trans??? That thing would shuck out in no time flat behind Scouder's motor. I mean, it has the valve body shift kit, but other than that it's pretty much stock. Maybe with the drag gears and some racing bands it would work, but the way it is now, forget it!

Edit:

And too Kurt we could use one of Larry's Blown motors and add the juice to it?
I Love this stuff...

I'll put Brain's engine in my truck if he will pay to have the frame straightened back out after a few good launches.

YEP!! Russ. ABSOLUTELY.
Pride in everything it takes to make it come true from the concept to the final torque.
I've built some projects and I have watched and helped others do the same over the years.
I didn't know what a FORUM was until a year ago. But since have watched, listened and lived through most of you as you share ideas, help each other, support one another and then when it's done, you all share the pride with each other. This forum is now manditory, daily reading requirement. Rebuilding the old stuff is a way of life. Most people couldn't understand what it is if you could explain it to them. Maybe your wife understands, you don't just DO IT, you LIVE IT.
Scouder is just one example out of so many, but, using him as an example, I'll bet I don't have enough money to buy one single complement from even one of you guys when you watched his video and told him how impressed or happy for him you were.
How much would one friendship that has developed while you are building your projects cost me? Hell, you guys are as excited for each other as you are for yourself.
Bottom line guys, as far as this old man is concerned, Russ couldn''t be more corrrect. "Build" it, it's forever and YOU did it, stand beside it when it's done and enjoy the admiration and enthusiasm of your friends. "Buy" it, you get what!!!! Numbers without thought, sweat, friends, pride or accomplishment. A 10 from the Ligh..... at 60K, I'll take a 12 from Scouder or Russ or GTex knowing how they got there, what they did to EARN it and everything you guys throw in with it when it's done.
Couldn't resist.
Another round Geeves.
