This is the place to gripe til you are blue in the face. I won' give you any sympathy when your new Dodge craters like they tend to do also.
Ford guys expect you to go to Dodge. They hope they don't have to listen to you again. They know their product is superior and they will get new customers every day.

Life is not only time……paradoxically, it is the denial of time!
What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.
I LOVE my 04, CC, TorqShift, 6.0, power everything...... I have almost 3,000 miles on it, and I am STILL SMILING. Not one iota of a problem! I can highly recommend this truck!
And I ask one more time, somebody show me the advertisement, news release or document that claims the quietness.
There were some links here or over on dieselstop recently to some older ads pushing the quietness. I haven't seen any for a while now (wonder why) but they did advertise the quietness of the trucks when they first hit the market.
Just a quick thought. Are we as consumers/manufacturers getting so technologically advanced that trucks such as these are unable to satisfy the masses on such a quick time table? We demand more power, more torq., and every year each one of the big 3 try to out do each other. Do we as consumers actually allow them time to do the neccesary R&D that it would take to make a perfect vehicle?
I don't think so. I think most consumers are aware of the fact that a new motor or new vehicle will have some teething problems. I followed the forums before I got mine and I expected a few minor problems, too. But Ford seems unable to fix so many of these motors and we're still seeing a lot of problems with the 04's after a redesign of some major engine components. At some point it goes beyond teething problems. The 6.0PSD has been well beyond that for a long time now, IMO.
Quote:
On a side note, my 04/04 is noticably louder at idle than my father-in-laws Duramax. Does it bother me? Heck no.
Good for you. But I owned a dmax. One of the biggest reasons I bought that in 01 after also driving a 7.3PSD was the noise factor. More power, less noise. What's not to love? So when I bought my 6.0, it was one of my criteria. It's been taken away and it's just wrong. I'd probably not have bought this truck had it been as noisy as it is today.
I agree. But don't you think something is wrong with that when GM/Izuzu and Dodge/Cummins can get it right but Ford/Navstar can't? But, more to the point, they advertised a quiet truck, which I bought. I'd have never bought the loud truck I have now after owning a very quiet dmax. I've been ripped off, IMO.
I have a friend that has a '03 Dodge. The motor is great but the tranny went out at 24,000 because he pulls a 9,000 pound snowmobile trailer. I don't think they quite have it right either.
to choctaw bob i was a big ford fan but i like most don't like getting screwed by ford so i'm moving on and i'll take my chances with the dodge as for you and your sympathy keep it i don't want it from some like you your just to high and mighty for me and i will not miss you as for most of the rest of the guys on here i will miss them they have been very very helpful and i hope they all get there trucks just the way they want them or get there cash back form ford as for ford they need the fed's after them then maybe they will do the right thing

I think the service you get and the way you are treated are a byproduct of the way you approach the problem solving. It takes a little longer but you get better service. Work with your dealer service manager and get them on your side. I found that helps. Be factual. Document your issues and be clear on what you want. Emotional diatribe will get you nowhere.

I share Bob's opinion on this one.
IMO this IS THE ONLY way to win

Do you work for Ford Service? Sounds like it, at least in my dealings with them.
No Sir. I work for myself (various clients)
I'm as disgusted as the next guy with Ford. I think there are a combination of factors that have caused this.
First, I think that Ford just got overwhelmed. I don't ever remember Ford having any major product failures since I bought my first new one in 1969.
Second, It had been quite a while since the introduction of the 7.3. They had not had a need to train a bunch of new diesel techs. So they were short handed.
Third, Ford stock has been in some trouble for the last couple of years. This does influence short term thinking.
There are other factors, some that you can think of.
It appears that Ford is getting a handle on the problems. By this time next year the problems will be in the past and guys that are really mad and won't be happy no matter what will be driving Dodges.

It seems that the folks that take a calm business like approach to solving the warranty issues get much better service than those who approach it with a wild eyed rant.
I learned a long time ago at Texas Tech that negotiation is an art. The most important thing to learn about negotiations is the first one who looses his temper, looses.

I agree keeping a calm head is key but having done that and still not geetting any results it gets to a point when you know they are purposly giving you the run around. Today I had meeting with the service manager at my dealership to try and set up appointment with factory rep. and he looked me right in the eye and told me 14mpg was about the best you could get out of 6.0, I told him there were several people getting much better then that he said that is hard to believe. and this a large dealership not a 20 psd a year dealership, so even though I still believe ford trucks are good trucks it gets old when they continue to stonewall. Just a thought wonder if the reason the complaints are down is because the word of unhappy 6.0 owners is spreading and there are fewer being sold. That is what my friend that is sales manager is telling me they are having there worst year since superdutys came out, cant hardly sell them.

That's funny, both Ford general managers that I know are having a record year. I guess it depends on who you talk to and the dealer's attitude about super dutys.
