interesting! wonder how the price of fuel, steel & the economy will effect Ford's projects sales for this year? Ford has stated that they'd like to hit 1Mill. sales, but to at least beat last years sales figures.

And the Titan didn't make the top 10, or do they not consider the Titan a pickup truck?

General Motors (GMC and Chevy combined) comes within 8,763 vehicles of Ford. That's within 3%. Pretty close considering Ford includes the Super Duties and Light Duties in their F-series (maybe even the F450-F550 too?), and Ford offers way more models to chose from. Plus they have the best selling diesel. I actually expected a larger margin.

Toyota's up 16.2% compared to Ford's 10.6%, so it looks like Toyota is climbing faster.

I don't think the Titan made it because they are using last year to this year sales numbers, and the Titan is Nissan's first full size truck entry, new this year.

Another note about sales numbers. If you add the number of GM dealers Chevy and GMC combined they have 2000 more dealers than ford. That gives them a huge advantage and even at that ford outsells both. Not bad for a company with 2000 less dealers. I noticed both chevy and dodge selling less trucks this month compared to a year ago. Ford managed to sell more. Even with truckfest promotion over at GM it failed to increase sales.

dealer unit inventory of around 70 to 75 days sales is usually considered ideal. F150 is running around 100 to 110. Interesting that altho F150 sales have increased month to month for about 7 or 8 months in a row, the unsold units on dealer lots are beginning to increase. And ford has another f150 factory (or factories, i am not sure) that will come on line soon so it will be interesting to see how that additional supply will affect the market.

The GM Marketing people are a totally dysfunctional group. here in houston GM spent tons of money on full page ads in the local papers about truckfest, the "power pack" options, extra facotry rebates, the drive and show event that took place where people could drive a GM vehicle and get a free $500 rebate coupon, etc. But not one dealer sponsored ad i saw in the last 2 months even mentioned the truck fest, or the powerpack option drive, or the extra rebates. It's like GM and their dealers are on different planets in terms of marketing. The poor coordination helps Ford and i have no problem with that.

The new truck plant in Dearborn is online and making the F-150. Wemight see some incentives on the new F-150 if truck sales are slowing. These gas prices is why trucks from all the big 3 are not selling too good now. Good grief it takes $80.00 to fill both my tanks Whew and that doesnt last long Where is it going to end.

i've seen a bunch of 2004 f150's in houston area but i only recall 2 XL trucks. Ford is focusing on the high end , option loaded light truck market and that makes sense from their standpoint. When the new factory is on line, we'll probably see more XL new series trucks. i dont know how long ford will keep the heritage plants running.

Ive seen a ton of 150s running around houston, But only 2 titans and zero toyota double cabs. Ford is king in texas no doubt. I dont think those numbers include the 450s and up since those are mainly commercial trucks, however if they are counted then they are counted for chebby/gmcrap.

Chevy and Dodge also include their heavy duty trucks in these sales numbers.(Chevy silverado 2500/3500/heavy duty and Dodge ram 2500/3500).

As for the toyota, I wouldnt exactly consider it a fullsize truck. The sales increase is probably due to the new crewcab option.

I see more and more of the 2004 around Tucson. When I went back to the lots to check on buying a Lariat, most of the models had already been sold. It's a very popular truck here.

Right. But Chevy and Dodge don't make a truck in the same class as the F-450 and F-550. These are light duty "F-Series" trucks, many of which can fitted with a pickup bed. So the question is, are they included in the numbers? Because if they are, it would account for part of the total numbers. The F-650's and F-750 are obviously considered bigger medium duty's so I could understand them not being included in the F-Series light truck numbers. Plus don't forget that the GM's all sit on the same basic chasis, where the F-150 has nothing in common with the F-Series Super Duty's (F-250's through F-550's). IMO, there's a lot of different trucks included in Ford's numbers.

The Toyota Tundra Double Cab is considered a full size truck, competing in the same class as the F-150, Nissan Titan, and Dodge Ram. And it's a new release, so it wouldn't have much effect on the numbers which were calculated between last year and this year.
