Throttle body and air intake.

Hey-
I have a 99 ranger with a 3.0.
The throttle bodies I was looking at said it gives 18 extra hp for the ranger specifically, I was also looking at either a air intake or a cold air intake. I have seen them from 10 - 15 hp extra. They say this and exhaust are the 2 most restrictive components on a ranger. Is this true? Also if I got either or both do I need to reprogram my computer?
Thank you ~ Mark

Hi Mark, welcome to FTE!

IMO, the best way you can spend your $$ right now would be on an exhaust system. This is a proven way to get a little more pep out of your motor.

I am highly doubtful of claims that say a "new and improved" throttle body will add noticeable horsepower to a stock engine.

I could have sworn the 3.0L had an integrated throttle body/intake manifold. They're inseperable. At least mine is.

Some are, some aren't, depends on the year...
