Engine Light

Check engine light came on the other day, stay on for two days, until I disconnect battery to reset. Truck still running good this is the only problem to date. I have an f250 04, build date of 9/03, engine built same month. Never flashed. My quesion is can you read the codes from check engine memory same as the older models? I used to put A jumper on A plug on my 1992 F350 and the check engine light would flash out the codes from memory of any problems. If it comes on again I'll take in under warranty, hate to do it and get flashed. I have 11,000 miles, runs great getting 15 mpg, on the highway.

Get a Predator. It has diagnostics. It will read codes (telling you what the code means) and you can clear codes. That in addition to look at live streaming data.

But wait, there's more! You get some really good towing, mileage/performance and performance programs.

Well yes I could buy A predator, but I still would like to know if the codes could be retreaved without spending hundred of dollars. I don't care to raise my horsepower or torque. I pull my trailer loader with toys as fast as I want go.

F250Wheels,

You need a code reader for ODBII computers. All vehicles built since 1995 must have an OBDII type computer per EPA, that can be flashed and real time data retrieved with the code reader. The way you got the codes on your 1992 will not work on newer vehicles and you risk damaging your computer by trying to short out the pins.

Hope this helps
