Air bag light is on
How can I shut off the air bag light on my 1999 ranger? I was in a minor accident and I had to replace the bumper, the light came on after the accident. Any help would be great.

If the AB light is on it indicates a fault with the system and it's been deactivated. Does the light stay on constant or does it flash?

It should flash a "code", mine was 27 (I think), 2 flashes, a pause, the 7 flashes, this cycle repeated a couple of times then the light would remain on. Get the code and someone should have an answer for you what the fault is. Mine was the passenger deactivation switch fault.

can code be pulled with obdII scanner, or does dealer have to do it? Also what did you have to do to get it fixed? Thanks a lot for all of your help I greatly appreciate it!!

When you start the truck the light will flash 1-4 times. that is the first digit. then it will pause and flash 1 to 9 times. that will will be the second digit of the code. it will then repeat flash these codes 2 more times. Get the code and we can tell you the problem, or take it to a dealer. you choice.

1999 ranger air bag light
My air bag light flashes once then stops and then flashes 9 more times, I believe that would make the code a 19 can anyone tell me what this code means and how I could fix this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As I understand it that code implies that the system believes you were in a crash and the ABs deployed, you didnt say if they did or not, assuming not, I would advise getting it checked out asap by a professional (ie the dealer) either way since a) your AB system is not working, and b) a "delayed reaction" deployment, however unlikley, would be a bummer..

You can try pulling the battery cable off for a few mins and see if it resets, other that that it looks like it goes to the dealer. Your Ab system is not active when it in alarm and it really needs to fixed.

Below is the testing you need to do....
Pinpoint Tests — Air Bag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS)
PINPOINT TEST C: LFC 19/DTC B1231 — RCM CRASH DATA MEMORY FULL
² C1: CHECK FOR A HARD OR INTERMITTENT DTC
² C2: CHECK THE CONDITION OF THE RCM MOUNTING BRACKET
² C3: CHECK FOR ADDITIONAL DTCS
