2000 f250 diesel fuel filter?

I change mine every 12,000 miles along with the anti-freeze additive. It is every simple to change, just unscrew the top of the fuel bowl(I don't know the tech. name) remove the old filter and seal. Place the new one in coat the new seal with fuel and tighten by hand. Start the truck and do a leak check. It might take a few more turns of the motor to fire up but that is ok.

Hope this helps...
Rick

2000 f250 diesel fuel filter?

Today I ask the same question to a injection company and thay told me every other oil change!! I wasn't having any problems. I was just calling to see if diesel fuel could contain a bacteria in it and would fuel additive improve my fuel millage, They said yes to both but the bacteria would apear black in the fuel filter holder and would require a different additive. I told them that their was rust in mine and they said that it needed to be cleaned and new filter change. also said that the filter housing is 500.00 to replace if neglected. I look through my owners service guide and the normal change is at 30000 mi. severe change at 15000. call ford for a filter and they told me $54.00 nearly had a wreck! somewhere on this site someone posted that International sold same filter for less. When to the international house and sure enough same filter for 14.09. different box but same exact part. This just blows me away!! thay had four of them and I bought all four for just 2.00 more then I would of paid for one at Ford. They also said to change the fuel filter every oil change or no more then the second oil change. While I was there ask if the air filter was the same he said yes $11.20 bought two of them. you will pay 29.00 each at Ford!! Not going back to ford for any service parts. OIl filter is also the same. From now on 5000 mi I will replace fuel filter and every fill up will get the additive.
Paid way to much to neglect a 14.09 fuel filter.

2000 f250 diesel fuel filter?

hey ,
on the fuel filter there is one you can get if you know the correct peaple that can be cleaned and reused. The fuel filter for a jt8-d a jet engine has a 2 micron metal filter will fit the same houseing get one that has been used they only use them once on air craft but clean easly for our use the jet engine has smaller parts so needing better fuel filtering the engine is found on 727 ,old 737,some dc9 made by pratt and whittny.

2000 f250 diesel fuel filter?

The existing Racor fuel filter assembly is designed to NOT deliver any fuel to the engine unless there is a filter element in place, so if you wanted to scrap the OEM filter for some type of aftermarket unit you'll either have to replumb the fuel system or modify the existing filter housing assembly to run without the filter element in place. The filters are only about $11 from the International dealer -- it doesn't hardly seem worth the effort.

We have about 8 of these and often go 50,000 plus. Under stop and go driving everyday.
Also it is recommended to fill the new filter before putting it on.

2000 f250 diesel fuel filter?

The bacteria that forms in Jet turbine (JET A, JP4, JP5) can't be filtered out and in most cases (I would say 95%) will never have enough time to form in a tank of Deisel fuel, which is a base type of Kerosene (same as JET fuel.) The only way this could occur is in a very hot climate and the truck will set idle for a long period of time allowing the bacteria a nice home that is NOT moving through fuel lines. In aviation there is an additive called PRIST that can be added to the fuel (with ZERO harm to the system or performance) that kills this type of bacteria and really is only used when the aircraft sets for long periods of inactivity. I would go to the local airport Mechs and puirchase a spray can of PRIST to add to the fuel if I was getting this bacteria, but a normal driving habit moves the fuel through the system quickly so its not a problem.

I went to the Ford dealer as well. He told me to change the fuel filter every 15,000 miles. He also told me to only use name brand fuel (no truck stop fuel). You can definately chang it yourself very easily as per the first response. I would only add to be careful with the gaskets and wrap the fuel bowl with some old towels as to keep from spilling diesel on your manifold.

The reason you should use Truck Stop Fuel.
1.There fuel doesn't set in their tanks as long as a general filling station.
2 less chance of water to form in fuel.
3.less chance of bacteria formation.
4.cheaper
5 I have never heard of "don't use truck stop fuel", I have heard to only use truck stop fuel.

It is rare that you will have a problem with truck stop fuel. I have heard of more problems with service station fuels. look on the road where is most Diesel sold? you have been misinformed.
Please don't get me wrong, I am not saying that you will have a problem with service station fuel, or that you won't have a problem with a truck stops fuel just that the odds of you having a fuel problem would be greater with station that doesn't move the volume of fuel like a truck stop would.
