Thumbs down Leather Seats coming apart

I have two Ford trucks. One a ten year old, the other a new born with 1200 miles. They both have leather seats. Guess which vehicle has the seats that are coming unstitched! I hope nobody else is having this problem. I am not generally a lucky guy. If this is a fluke I'm sure I own it.

Burn the threads off using a lighter. That's what I did. It's buying a new shirt or a set of new battle dress uniforms (threads hanging everywhere). Becareful not to burn your leather.

At 1500 miles my seats still look just like thye did 1499 miles ago, and still have the hint of new leather smell. I've made it a point to use my factory cab steps to prevent "sliding" my back side across the edge of the seat. I accredit my use of the cab steps to the condition of my leather seats. I should also mention I've got the FX4 with black leather captian chairs.

Ultramax21: You're killing me. You must park your FX4 in your curio cabinet. My seats still look and smell the same as it did when I drove it off the dealer lot. I credit its excellent condition to routine maintenance with a leather cleaners and conditioner from the BMW (good stuff).

Triton,
Take it back to the dealer and they'll replace the leather but not the whole seat. At least thats what they had to do on mine after 3670 miles.

How did they turn out? Are you happy with the result? I understand that these things happen, but they should'nt. Yes I slide into my seat as opposed to hoisting myself down from the rafters. I want to use my truck and not have to worry about the ramifications of using it.

I slide in and out of mine also. The problem with mine was in the upper side of the drivers seat closest to the door where it is never touched regardless of how you get in and out of the vehicle. As far as the installation of the cover the dealer did a great job. They also told me there was nothing to installing the new leather. Just a matter of sliding the old off and the new on.
