This is the 79 f350 uncle Ethan was talking about! What a badass truck! If I ever find one in that good condition, in buying it. Even if I have to sell my home! Lol
I just traded off my rust free 79 supercab long box 4x4 400m auto and the odd thing about this truck is that it's of course an f2/3 type chassis leaf springs in the front HOWEVER it had a Dana 44 high pinion 5 lug in front and a 5 lug ford 9" out back.... Rare???
i would say the 1976 bicentennial truck. it has a flag on the doors and "1776-1976" under it. some had an eagle on them also.
There is a bicentennial truck I see when I visit my daughter, the shame of it is it was outside all last winter parked on dirt and gravel, Winter in Pittsburgh is very hard on sheet metal

They are so rare. You should see if they want to sell it.
I think a fully optioned 78 F-250 XLT Lariat supercab with front/rear dana 60s and the sno-fighter package. I have seen exactly TWO in my lifetime, one brand new in 78, and another sits in Collis junkyard.
Also, there are old-timers that absolutely SWEAR that some of the 78-79 400M engines came with factory 4 barrels, in extremely limited numbers. I have never seen one personally, that in itself would make it unbelievably rare.

New here. Looking to get some ideas in the planning stages. This caught my attention because I have this exact same setup for my 1979 F250 Supercab Long Bed except, mine has a 6.9L Diesel that was swapped in from a 1985 F250 with the C6 transmission when I purchased it. Motor needs some work now and thinking of doing a 460cid swap to avoid headaches and restore somewhat back to original era. Any suggestions appreciated. Looking for power and torque and was hoping for someone to answer the question from this original post on being a rare/unusaul setup. If so, I wont be looking to change anything else but the motor.
