ive looked around quite a bit, was it because this van was fleet van? commercial? does the fleet vans have gray steel bumpers with recessed glass headlights? not the flush plastic ones... what are the draw backs of fleet owned vans? they have vinyl seats right not cloth? is there any other interior difference? maybe no carpet? drive line should be the same right?

but that still doesnt expalin him having V6 and not I6.. i hope he is just dumb...

The "composite" headlights are an option, and a pricey one at that. So most fleet vans do have sealed beam headlights rather than the composite housiing and a smaller 9003 or 9007 bulb

Right, that would be an I6. I think the engine options thru '96 were 300-I6, 302-V8, 351-V8, 460-V8.

Then engine was change was a mid year deal, in 93 it's a 300I6, but in 96 and early 97 the new engines were standard and the old were options.

300 cubic inch straight six in the 93, no V-6 available. The headlight had 2 options, a grey 'bucket' that a sealed beam sat in or the one piece glass unit that took a bulb. The XLT's and many of the vans that were bought by conversion companies had the more expensive one piece glass headlight along with the chrome front bumper and a chrome grill. If you break the glass on the one pice units they can get expensive if you buy them new. But there's a gazillion of them lying around used, and it's even something you can convert too if you want to. That 300 I-6 was an incredible engine. Cared for or not it's not uncommon to see 300-400,000 miles on them. They're not rev monsters but they are very torquey. Clifford Research (or is it Clifford Air Research?) has beau coup hop up parts for them. You can pump that engine up to 225-250 hp pretty easily. Good luck, Ken
