compression too high on 2.9l ?

compression too high on 2.9l ?

I had a compression test done beofre i bought my 87 ranger with a 1992 2.9 motor in it, the test siad it was 165 is that an indication that something is wrong or is that ok? the motor runs great.

165 is real good. 120 is getting tired. 150 is common.

The most important thing is consistency as long as it's above 100.

I agree. The compression should be at least 100. 165 is outstanding, unless it is on one cylinder only. They should all be 165 plus or minus 25. In this case, I would guess the others would be less.
