F150 vrs. The Competition

Car and driver Magizine ran a show with that excact lineup. The quickest is the Hemi. It has more ponies than any other competitors. But, it also has the worst gas mileage of any also. So really how much power do you need for daily driving. But it came in next to last in the overall. Ford 150 was second best beaten by the Titan. The only reason I didnt get the titan was the price tag.

If you want the fastest stock truck, get the Ram SRT-10. If you want the second fastest (3/10th's of a second slower) get the F-150 Lightning. If you want the most towing capacity out of a 1/2 ton, get the F-150. If you also want the best of everything else, once again, stick with the F-150.

The titan is actually the 'fastest' plain-jane pickups (excluding SRT-10 & Lightning). Depending who/when/where the testing is done, the Ram might win. The Ram has more ponies, but I *think* more weight and a less efficient drivetrain. C&D liked the Titan since it was fast & cheap. That's why it won.

True; if it's plain Jane we're talkin about, the Titan is the quickest of the bunch. But what's the point of a super fast truck anyway? I never understood it. That's why I have my Camaro (take it easy Ford loyalists). That's like looking to buy a Viper that can carry a full sheet of plywood. Just for kicks on a lazy afternoon, go to a dealership and pretend to be in the market for a new Mustang (there, are ya happy? - or better yet a Ford GT). When they start tryin to sell you on the performance, say "well what's it's towing capacity?"

My father in law has got a 04 quad cab hemi a month after I got my 04 screw last fall. A 2 months ago we took a 300+ round trip excursion with both of us driving. He got just over 13 mpg while I got 16 mpg. As for a standing start acceleration, no contest. The Hemi had me by over a truck length at 60 mph. As for ride quality, no comparison. It seems like you could feel every bump in the road on the dodge and it was a lot louder (wind noise, motor noise). Just my two cents.

I test drove only the Chevy and the Dodge. The F150 is quieter than the Chevy and blows it away in the "looks" department. Yes the Dodge has more power clearly, but the handling is terrible. Overall I rate the F150 easily above those trucks or I would have bought one of them. I'm not brand loyal and have owned other brands in the past.

I also test drove the Dodge and it did not compare to the ride of the F-150. I am also not brand loyal and have owned chevy, buick, dodge, and nissan cars before. I didn't even like the F-150 when it first came out from what I saw on the commercial. I looked at the titan, chevy and dodge. The ford F-150 for me won hands down. The dodge drove terrible to me and I wasn't even happy with the test drive. The chevy build quality is cheap and the looks are not to my taste. The Titan has some good points about it and I did look at hard it, but the F-150 after a test drive put a smile on my face and made my wife and I say we want this truck. The titan styling turned me off and I am in the Patriotic mindset of buying American made. My Truck was made in Kansas City by Americans, not in Mexico, Japan(Parts) or some other country. If I offend anyone I'll apologize now for it. God Bless America!

I owned a 2003 GMC Sierra SLT Z71 4x4. It was a pretty nice truck, but I got a Ford bcause of the looks and fit and finish. The GMC had a few more bells and whistles that I do miss. I love the room in my Screw Lariat, but I am dissapointed that I get about 2 mpg less even thouhgt my Ford is a 4x2.
