50 F-1 Axle length

I am trying to figure our the correct axle length I will need for a 8" or 9" rear end to go with my 302/C4. I measured the original axle the it measures 55" from the inside of the brake plate to brake plate. The manual states the measurements state the length as 60" from wheel center to wheel center and 69.16" for outside hubcap to outside hubcap. Now, considering all these measurements, what size axle should I get and how should I measure it off the vehicle. I am going to the Pate Swap Meet in Ft. Worth tomorrow.

Any help will be appreciated.

Woodsman, a stock rearend in that 50 stock rear should measure 57" stub to stub (housing) and 61 1/4" hub to hub (with axles in place)

Any 9" rear from a 57-72 half ton pickup will swap in easily.

Other widths can work with the difference adapted for with wheel offset.
