Toro Model 20676- Blade clutch adjustment
Hi,
I am completing my rebuild job on my dad's Toro lawnmower. The only thing that doesn't work is the blade brake clutch. The blade spun when ever the engine ran, and the clutch would not release. Unfortunately, my dad bought it second hand without an owners manual. If anyone has this mower, could you see if there is a procedure for adjusting the blade disengagement clutch? Thanks.
The mower is a 21", has the electric start, and was made in 1984-85. Some newer movers have the same deck but an OHV engine.

From the operator position. Find the bale box near your left hand.
I always give this a shot of penetrating oil. I soak it pretty good then blow it out with a compressor. With proper operation push the bale all the way down then up. Blade should engage. Let go 1-1/2 inch and it should snap and unload the clutch. Blade should stop.
Give the cables a good soak also.
Second hand.. the belt may be wedged or something is not letting the belt let go. May be the wrong belt. Check the blade idler bearing it may be siezed.
I have an 84' and it is still going.
