It will get better as it breaks in. What kind of mileage to expect is like trying to predict the weather. There are lots of variables. Do a search on the forum and there will be lots to read. I get about 18-19 on the road lightly loaded. 14-15 around town and I have an 03 F250 4x4 3.73 LS diff and stock everything.

lol just post mpg before I saw this post. I just got back from a long trip. I have 454 miles on the odom. By hand calculations I got 22.54 mpg highway (driving 60 mph) and 15.2 mpg driving mixed city/highway unloaded (just 3 passengers and suitcases). I have a F250 FX4 King Ranch with a 6.0L PSD (everything stock).

I have an 04 250 4x4 3.73 and have tracked the mpg since new. The best I have seen is 16.27 and the worst tank has been 12.71. The running average over the life of the vehicle is 13.67 (at 3850 miles). These are all tank to tank city/hiway combined, calcuated by hand. The overhead computer is .6 optimistic, on average; if I calcuate 13 the computer will show 13.6. I have yet to take a roadtrip and calcuate all hiway milage.

Forgot to mention, I have a 5K lb boat that i tow periodically (1-2 times per week, 50 mile round trip) which contributes to my mileage.

Remember the overhead computer gives the average over the last 500 miles not of the current tank (unless you are resetting it every fuel up).

Some of the variables that affect mileage:
Wind
temperature
barometric pressure
geography (up/down hills)
congestion
fuel quality
vehicle loading
tire size, type, pressure
driving habits

Here's the bottom line.

Before any flashes.... 16-17MPG.

After flashing.... 12-13MPG.

ack. I am not letting any Ford people near my truck. Will it make a difference if you have a aftermarket chip (like superchip, juice, or predator) or does that only supplement your Ford OEM program?
