I need tune-up specs for a 534. Timing, dwell eta. Are there any ignition upgrade to electronic? What are the right plugs?
Pertronix makes an electronic ignition upgrade for this. Looking at an older
Motorcraft spark plug catalog shows that the early 534 engines take a
different plug than the later 534s. (I don't remember the plug number, but
I do remember that the numbers were pretty close)
Its a 1969. I need timing and dwell settings if anyone got them? Thanks
Here they come from Motor's 1979 Truck Repair Manual:
1969 534
Spark plug: BTF-31, gap .030"
Point gap: .020" Dwell: 22-24
Timing (disconnect vacuum to dizzy and plug): 8 BTDC
Idle, std tranny: 550, auto 500 (with headlights on if Air-conditioned)
They change from year-to-year, so ...
