I have checked the areas that have been sugested to me (the drivers side top of the frame rail by the steering box, th pasenger side top of the frame rail just in front of the cab , the radiator support crossmember, and have seacherd under the truck looking for the numbers on the frame but can't seem to find them ) I need to know wherethey would be stamped cause CT DMV wont gie a set of plates for this truck with out a second location for the vin number to verify it. any help will be greatly appreciated THANKS GUYS
Well guys i found the vin numbers! they were located on te front ross member on the pasenger side right near the radiator thanks for all the help on this one every one!!!maybe someday when i become knowledge i can repay the Favor
is this vin location one can find without pulling the truck apart? need a vin# to register a 53 and get title but dont want to pull the truck a part someone wants to buy it thanks julie
Yes julie It is located on the front crossmember under the radiator ,its he big wide flat cross member ( if you look at the posts to my question kevin posted a picture of it, but mine was closer to the pasenger side frame rail ) but you have to lookreal close and probably will have to remove th paint with a wire brush caue th numbers are not stamped very deep in the metal and are easily overlooked. if you look down at the cross member form the passenger side about two inches in from where the crossmember meets the frame rail on the flat was where my numbers were located ( the firt time i looked i missed them thats how hard it is to see them untill you wire brush it.
thanks for the info guys ill look tomorrow if the weathers good hopefully i can pull the radiator without too many probs and get the # to work with the dmv! thanks again julie
Julie : I didnt have to remove my radiator just wire brush the surace of the cross member that shows right in front of the fan shroud on the flat surface and you shoud be all et if they stamp themall in the same places.
Would a '51 F3 have the VIN on that radiator cross member? Any other locations besides the glove box? I'm trying to get the truck titled in North Carolina.
I have a 51 f1 that I'm trying to find the VIN for. I found some #s on the cross member 2 rows of digits and one of letters. Would this be the vin. I'm not sure if it makes a difference being a Canadian made truck.
