I saw the story. Maybe those (majority) other spoiled athletes will learn something from this...I doubt it though.

I'm from the Phoenix area and can tell you that Pat Tilman was a very respected person locally. Not only for leaving the NFL in pursuit of what he believed in, but for how get got into the NFL to begin with.
We lost a very special young man, one who was worth of being an excellent role model not only to me and my son, but to all.
Pat Tilman...a real American hero - Rest in Peace

....yep, he passed up a 9 mil contract w/st. rams to stay with the cardinals (at 3mil) cuz the cards gave him a chance.....
....he rode a bicycle to training camp cuz he didnt own a car and he refused to own a cell phone....
....the epitome of honor integrity and loyalty....
His is the example of a Patriot and hero....

Well said DutchmanAZ & wabiker

Pat Tillman and his family are a class act, showing nothing but respect, integrity and honesty. They not only talk the talk but walk the walk. Definitely true Americans willing to support this Great country and pay the Ultimate price so Others may live in Freedom.

BTW his brother Kevin is still over there fighting.

God Bless them all and Rest in Peace Pat Tillman.

Not to take ANYTHING away from the others serving and sacrificing overseas in service of our country, but Tillman was a remarkable individual. Someone to whom Duty, Honor, and Country were real and tangible. Not just vague concepts. He will be missed.

Fare well Sir.

What a tragedy! Tillman was 1 in a million that would give up a chance to make millions to do what he belived in and what was right. More money hungry, greedy americans should learn from this tragedy. Good luck to all troops over seas, and god bless you all! I have the utmost respect for all who have ever served their country.

That is what makes our country so great, people like these that volunteer to put their lives in danger for all to be FREE...

God Bless you guys and gals..
