Bug Shields?

Im looking at buying a Bug Shield for my 04 FX4. I am looking at th eTrident from Lund but it seems to be the most expensive one out there ot the smoke color shields. Anyone have one, good or bad? Any other suggestions on what other shields are good? Thanks alot. Chris

I purchased a Lund low profile bug shield, which is clear then painted on the inside surface to match the truck, looks great, no problems $149 painted and installed.

Be very careful to make sure Bugshield fits properly, mine didnt and it took the paint off my grill in two places, I got a second one and it was worse, purchased at AutoZone I think it was a Ventvisor .

I have a bug shield from EGR and I really like it. It doesn’t rattle and I don’t notice any more wind noise than without one. You have to take off the grill to mount it but it fits very nicely. It also uses two helper clips as you get out towards the ends. I see zero movement when I drive, even when a semi passes going the other direction. I got mine from here: http://www.truckaddons.com/manufactures/EGR.htm

ScotchCal - Paint Protection

Feel like I am a salesman as I have put this in several posts now but I have had bad experiences with bugshields taking off paint. I decided to try a 3M product called ScotchCal which is a clear paint protection system. I had it applied to the entire front bumper of my 04 Screw Lariat since it has the painted bumper as other painted bumpers I have had get pitted from rock chips.

Even if you like the look of having a bugshield on I believe you can do both and protect your paint from the bugshield. I hate paying $35K for a truck and having a $120 bugshield do something to the paint. I would highly recommend checking this out - it cost me $250 to do my entire front end - it is virtually invisible and is removable without damaging the paint (not reusable however).
