Oil pan question 460 E-series to F-series

Will a 460 motor from a van fit into my 77 F 250 2WD. One guy says there is a problem with the oil pan and another guy says there isn't. Does anybody know the details?

I'm doing a swap and I have a choice between two donor vehicles
from a van or from a truck. The motor in the van might be in better condition, I'm still working out the details. So my only question is about the van motor and how it fits into my truck

I think you will be OK, but, I would prefer to go with the truck. You will probably need to change out the engine perches and stands (not knowing what is in your truck now) to make it work.

you are fine with the pan. I do recommend going with the rear sump truck pan and pickup, or at least baffling your pan.

yeah the drainplug emptied over the front crossmember, which is odd, because the car location is a much better spot.

I have a car pan from a 77 Lincoln 460 and I have never actually looked to see the position of the drain plug. I will have to check it out.

I just knew the car and truck ones were in different spots.

yeah, the truck ones are are at the back of the hump, and the car ones are on the side, it would be right over the punkin' on a 4wd.

A van oil pan is kind of a semi rear sump. The sump is not all the way to the rear like a 83 up truck 460 pan is.

Needless to say, bassdude, I found a few other mistakes in that site.... don't believe everything you hear....

I've spent a lot of time crawling around, over, & under old fords...

Yeah, because you could actually say the van pan may be more of a mid-sump pan.

I have and have had, all three pans and they are all different.
