Question Shell Rotalla in 6.0??

My Dad just got a 6.0 and we have been getting oil in 55 gal. drums and it's almost time for a new drum - does Rotella carry the rating for the new diesel or just for the 7.3's??? I can't justify buying a drum just for me - he uses way more of it than I do. Anyone know??

The "Rotella T" has the correct rating for the 6.0, although I did document a decrease in mpg after I made the first oil change at 5,000 miles. I just changed the oil again at 10,000 miles to Mobil Delvac1 and will see if that makes any difference with the mpg as well as the "oil leak" or wet spot.

I have Rotella T in mine now....
can't backup the mileage loss claim since I don't watch mpg that closely...
and have too much fun with the 6-oh and predator :-)

but it's coming up on time to swap oil and I may change just to try another option...

And I just had it put on on Choctaw Bob's suggestion...

I HATE to admit Bob is right, but he is, it is somewhat quieter !

not pilot injection quieter, but quieter...

Bobs head is going to start swelling and he will never get a hat on his head again.

I have run Rotalla T in my 6.0 for the last 2 oil changes and have not seen any change in MPG
THe Rotalla T is what the guy at the Ford dealer here told me to run cause it was cheaper than Motorcraft and just as good if not better

This is an excellent site and the best way to find the best oil for your truck…..sounds like a commercial, I know I do believe in this and oilguard. Click on them at the top of the page and see what I mean.

Disclaimer, all information in this post is my own opinion.

I put Rotella in mine and notice a decrease in performance. SO! I changed it to PENNZOIL 15w40. Performance has returned to the vehicle and I was told by Ford that Rotella DOES NOT MEET THE STANDARDS FOR FORD 6.0L but it does meet standards for the 7.3L. The injectors in the trucks are so sensitive that having the best oil is key to the performance of the 6.0L POWERSTROKE. Becuase the injectors are controlled hydraulicly controlled. Did you know that these injorctors inject the fuel in the cylinders at over 28,000 PSI. Thats alot of pressure!!! My 2 cents .....................
