351 Cleveleland Intake

I got a Weiand X-celerator 7517 intake for my 351C 4V engine. I am building this from a bare block and no parts btw so I am not completely stupid! LOL Anyway when I set the intake on the engine I notice the intake will not sit flush due to what looks like guides/studs in the heads near the intake port, each head has one... I do not have a gasket as the Full Set was almost a full set! LOL When I look up the gasket it says .060 thickness and these guides are much thicker. There are no holes in the intake and I am using the right intake and heads... Am I missing something in the casting of the manifold or do these guides/studs work out with the gasket. Also I notice a hole in the middle of each head that will not be fully covered by the manifold. From what I have seen looking at the gasket residue on blocks for sale online it appears these hole do not get covered up...
Any info will help as I do not have a parts list... I don't think it matters much about the casting #s because every set of 351C heads I have seen have this guide/stud but FYI I got DOAE quench heads...

I think what your talking about is a small pin maby 3/16.Each head has one. If so its used to keep the stock tin pan intake gasket in place while assembling. If your using 4 piece gaskets you could probably pull them out if there in the way.The intake is supposed to be below them when it's bolted on. I had a after market intake one time, I don't remember now what brand it was, but I ended up grinding it some so it would get by the pins. Those holes your talking about don't go anywhere, you don't need to do anything with them.

Hey Dude. Nobody would accuse you of being completely stupid. If you were, you would be on a different site asking about a Chevy problem. LOL

Thanks guys! Got it all together now. I just heated up the heads and tapped them in and blended them into the casting with a polishing tool... No chance of an oil leak this way...
