truck cap or tonneau type cover? also, what kind of bed liner?

I was worried about the locks before I bought the cover also. I thought having to unlock TWO locks instead of one would be a pain. After four months I am not bothered by the two locks or their quality. I considered buying one of those roll-n-lock covers, they look great! But the vinyl has durability issues, I hated the nylon open/closing rope, etc. The one I test drove rattled at highway speeds and was not guaranteed to be waterproof in anything more than a light rain. The concept is great, and when the execution is perfected, I might consider one...

Diver9005....THANKS!
I have a white F-150, so black should look good. I looked at the Leer, but I feel there are times I would care to sit on top, or maybe even stick a lawn chair on top to view things of interest. The painted ones are very nice, but easy on/off is a BIG plus for me also.

thanks for the review diver9005.... I wasn't really worried about someone breaking in. just wanted to make sure the quality of the lock was ok for opening after time. to tell you the truth, I am a little concerned about having to open 2 locks everytime I want in. The truxedo I had on my 03 was convienent. But I do like the look of the undercover.

I have had a few snap type....The are awful come cold weather...Friend has a pace edward on his and it is crap compared to the retrax I have now. I don't know how it will work come winter but it looks and "feel" like a quality product. Expensive, yes but sometimes you get what you paid for.

Mav, the Undercover is truly a custom molded tonneau for your particular truck bed. When fitted properly on the bed, there is a very small space between the cover and the painted bed-side. It seems like the bed was designed to have a tonneau on it. And this tonneau DOES NOT RUB THE PAINT. I have seen some fiberglass tonneaus that had rubbed the paint off down to the metal, but I assumed it was due to improper installation. The clamps and rails do not touch paint either. While the undercover is light, it is wider than a sheet of plywood. You will not be pulling it off and hanging it on your wall alone. Good luck!

As far as bed liners go I like the line-x spray in. They hold up well and it will never end up on the side of the highway. I have also had great success with the bedrug liner. hauled tons of stuff from brick to construction debris and it has held up so well that after three years I transfered it to my new SD. Vacuum it once and a while and it will keep looking great.
I have had several shells over the years and am now on my second hard tonneau (just installed on my new SD this afternoon) My choice is the A.R.E. LSII Looks great, very clean application and it is much sturdier than the competition. Simple to take off and reinstall if you ever need the full bed and the single locking level make getting in and out a breeze.
