'04 F-150 Head Lamp Bulb Replacement?

Has anyone found a decent replacment for the stock head lamp bulb on the '04 F-150? I haven't found anything by either Sylvania (SilverStar) or PIAA (Xtreme White) that will replace the 9008 bulb.

Any suggestions?

To the best of knowledge.....

As of this writing, NOBODY makes an aftermarket 9008 headlight bulb for our trucks. I understand that Sylvania is working on a 9008 "silverstar" bulb, but it will be several more months until it is available.

Sorry I couldn't be the bearer of better news.

The 9008 is a new bulb series that Ford introduced. No aftermarkets are available to date.

Thanks for the input. The bulbs you found on ebay are for the front turn signals. I'm looking for the actual headlamp bulb; a much more difficult animal to find as no-one seems to make a replacement yet...!

There were some on Ebay a whilke back that were listed as 9008's. However, there were not the right bulb. Originally when I was doing some looking months ago, I found that the Saturn at one time used a bulb number 9008. I think these were for the Saturn. They did not look anything like the bulb in the F150.

The foglamp bulbs are the same 9145's that were used in the 97-03 trucks.

Are you sure about that Kingfish51?

If so, do you know any aftermarket 9145 bulb that would put out more wattage, or a whiter (HID look) light, or maybe even a very bright amber, as they really are supposed to be "fog" lamps?

Thanks for any additional information you can provide....

I am not sure about aftermarket, I am sure others here know. The 9145 number is right from the owners manual, I think page 47 (I took the manual back out to the truck and it's pouring rain right now).

So here we are fully 5 months after my initial post on this topic and nobody has yet to produce a replacement headlamp bulb..! Like Ford hasn't sold enough of these trucks to warrant the attention of either Sylvania or PIAA??? Somebody has got to do something soon. The stock headlamps just don't cut it.

In doing some reading in this and other forums, my understanding is that DOT will not allow Sylvania to make a Silverstar version of the 9008. You may be able to do some searches and verify this.

some of us using Silver star "9005 ST" for our Fog light and it works good and very clear at night.

Just break small tap off from bulb then plug it- dada!
