i bought a few packs of the hitch ball grease before i made my first cross country trip last year... and that is some THICK stuff. it seems like it goes on almost like antiseize, but after a day of driving, it was a real thick.
it was more expiensive than bearing grease, and it was not as easy to keep clean when i got finished with it(b/c i didnt use a whole pack), and worked just as well.
i dont see any need for me to buy anymore of the over priced stuff. bearing grease is just fine for me.

On my Eaz Lift weight bars, I put a light coat of grease on the part that slides up inside the reciever. I also put a bit more in the groove on the end of the bar that goes in the reciever.
I also lube the ***** on my sway bar, BUT NEVER the sway bar itself.
I usually clean out the inside of the ball recievers periodically since they do pick up a lot of grit sometimes, especially at the beach. Also a good idea to clean the inside of the reciever for the bars. I have noticed some metal to metal wear in there due to grit etc.
I also put a little silicone grease inside the connector hosuing for the trailer wiring. Makes it much easier to plug in and unplug.
I periodiclaly spray some lube into the Screw Closed Chain Links that connect my chains to the reciever. I forgot what they are called but look like a link in a chain with a screw treaded barrel which allows you to open and close the link.
Once in awhile clean and grease the screw jack on the trailer A frame. Also the screwjacks on the 4 corners.
All of this takes maybe 5 minutes and can be done as you are setting things up at a camp ground or whatever.
Good Luck,
