Question What can I put into a 80' F-150? has 302

Please forgive my ignorance. I have a 1980 F-150 sitting in the parking lot collecting dust. I've had a great deal of engine trouble and have considered replacing or getting something with a little more muscle. How big can I go? Does anyone have a suggestion about where I can find the information? I want to build a monster! I've got the time and the money, steer me in the right direction.

Respectfully,
CarpeDM

Welcome to FTE. Asking questions does not show ignorance. The easiest thing for you to do, would be to build your 302 into a 347 with a stroker kit, with very good performance gains. If you want bigger yet, buy a 351W and stroke it to a 393. It will bolt in to you stock engine stands and transmission. Some of the Mustang sites would have more info on stroked engines, but there are people here that have done this. Then there's the option of superchargers or turbochargers. Twin turbos are very cool. Given enough time and money, you can swap in any engine you want to, but please keep it Ford. lol

Welcome aboard!

Secondly, I agree with Steve, if you want simple, stay in the same engine family. If you want LARGE, there is always the 460. You should be able to pick up some parts/mounts/stands from a 460 equipt truck of the same era and use them to transplant in BIG cubes. Another option if you go that route is check out ebay or L&L, they supply similar swap stuff

Thanks for the prompt reply Stevef100s! I never considered your ideas and I appreciate your giving me a direction to head. When I eventually start this project I will make sure and give updates on the process.
