engine noise

i had my 292 rebuilt about 500 miles ago.right from the start,i noticed a tapping noise,it sounded like it was in the top end on the right side.i adjusted my valves and it got much quieter.now it`s back, and it sounds like its coming from the lifter valley as good as i can tell.what could it possibly be?also despite every possible effort to stop it, it still has a miss to it.thanks for your help

how can i check the oil feed to my rockers, how hard would this be to fix,if my bearing is turned?how long would this take?would the cam have to come out?i i just adjusted my valves,i had plenty of oil coming out of the copper tube at the end of my rockers.i didn`t notice any oil coming out the end of my rockers at an idle, but it would sling a little oil from the rockers when i reved the engine.how can i lock the bearing in place.

the cam, pistons, lifters, bearings, rings, and everything else are new.we were able to go with stock size bearings and pistons.my heads were reworked also, and we used the origional valves and valvesprings, because they were in such good shape.it smokes when i rev the engine or when i take off.i would classify the noise as a knock.but like i said before it sounds like it`s coming from the lifter valley.does the oil come through the pushrods to the rockers?

You say you had the heads reworked. I assume that included new valve seals?? The smoke on rev could just be your rings bedding in, or a broken ring. A compression check will help a lot to give us information.

Is it possable that the front bolt in the intake manifold is to long and touching the push rod or bending the push rod?
