Hard Fuel Pedal

hi all,
the old gal is having a odd problem. maybe I’m a wuus. but lately the fuel pedal has been pushing down harder than usual, but only when the engine is running. shut her down and it is no problem. This rules out a frayed actuator cable, I’d think.
also it seems the Fuel Pedal is more sensitive than normal. just barely touch it at it is off. thinking it may be an IP but , it runs well other wise. Any ideas.

167000 miles on the clock, maybe original IP, not sure since got it used at 120,000

thanks,
Nate

what about unhoking the throttle cable from the ip and then starting the truck to see if the throttle shaft moves hard.that will tell you if its ip or cable.but from your description,i'd say its an internal pump prob.

Sounds like the pump here too.

I had a similar prob like that, turned out it was a bad motor mount and when accelerating the engine would lift off the bad mount enough to bind the cable, might be worth checking 1st as its a pretty cheap fix.Good luck.

thanks all,
going to check it out this weekend.
another thought was that some how the fuel pressure regulator for inside the pump is stuck and getting the wrong pressure and giving it too much fuel. (guessing here !)
was thinking back and when I first got the truck the fuel was turned up so high the pedal was overly sensitive. had to back off the fuel.
