1940 P/U Steel Fenders or Running Boards

Does anyone know of someone that makes reproduction STEEL running boards or rear fenders for a 1940 Ford Pickup...I have seen tons of different places that make glass ones, but I am looking for steel...Thanks....

I've recently noticed and been in touch with Northern Trucks about their notice that 40-41 Ford truck running boards will be added to their production. They claimed that it would be 2-3 months before they would be out. That was at least a good month or so ago. They're under new products on their web page.

Thanks for the reply. I just caught wind of that myself a couple of weeks ago. I heard the same tenative date as you. Someone saw one they had at the Carlise swap meet awhile ago and said it looked like a nice reproduction. Anything I have gotten from them has been of exceptional quality. Great people.

Lightbulb

I looked for someone making this stuff for the last few years and there wasn't anything coming up with different phrasing on internet search engines so I finally, being at the end of all my options, made most of the panels for my '40 PU myself. Northern must have just done most of this in the last couple of years. Their email to me mentioned that they would contact me when the running boards were in production. Anything within reason is worth it to keep from beating old worn-out metal. As long as they're stock dimensions I'll go for the new ones. Not exactly sure how I'll react when my wife wants to step on them to get into the PU...

Luckily, other than some surface rust, our running boards were in perfect shape. All 4 fenders on the other hand were real ruff. After much welding on Steve's part and much beating and some filler on my part, they're almost as good as new. We didn't want to go with fiberglass, which is the only alternative unless you can salvage yours or find a good set at a car show.

Salvage what you can - it's worth it................
