Brake Vibration

I'm getting a vibration when applying the brakes. Feels like a warped rotor. The truck only has 19k miles on it. Has anyone else had this? What else could cause this kind of vibration. I'm concerned that a warped rotor won't be covered under warranty.

Oops. I should have searched first. I guess I'm not the only one with this problem.

This problem is covered under the 3 yr 36000 K warranty. Just make an appointment with your dealer and they'll fix you right up.

Well, warped rotors it is. Dealership says rotors are wear items and are not covered beyone 12k miles. They wanted $126 to machine the rotors. I can do it myself. My only question is on a 2003 4X4 Ex, is the rotor a slip on or is the rotor and hub all one piece?

Find another dealer to get it covered under warranty, my truck had 29K on it and they replaced all four because of warpage. The rotor is not a wear item, the pads are. They just don't want to cover it for some reason.

Thanks for the info. I'll try the dealer I bought it from. They are just further away.

DO NOT purchase rotors from the dealer! Napa has rotors for the excursion for 51 bucks a piece, I just bought two last friday.

Funny cause the dealership I bought it from tells me that the rotors are covered under warranty. I called the service advisor from the other dealership I took it to and tried to convince him to pull his head out but no luck there. I'll take it to the place that wants to give me good service.

I had the same prob when braking. My X is an '03 Diesel with 16,000 miles on 'er. All stock at the time. When I braked it vibrated, or wobbled. My co worker has a 350 pickup and his was doing the same around the same mileage. We took them in the same day at different Ford dealers. His dealer said they will not fix under warrenty due to that being natural wear and did'nt help him out at all. My dealer said no prob, we'll fix it. They turned the rotors, replaced the brakes and it drove like new. No charge!!! At 16,000 miles I would of had a problem paying for it. I think it's at the service centers discretion. Which isnt right but what do you do??? Now that I lifted it, I know if anything goes wrong, they'll definatly turn away and run.

The dealership that I purchased my X from did resurface all four rotors (at not charge) and my vibration is gone.

Got my new Pirelli Scorpion AT's too.

I'm a happy X owner.

I must be lucky. Original rotors and pads at 73K miles. Front rotors resurfaced at 60K. The fronts are just starting to pulsate again so I plan to replace with Raybestos rotors. Has anybody used the Raybestos?
