stalls when letting foot off, wont restart, please help me out!

I have a class C motorhome (E-350) van chassis. The return line coming out of the fuel filter is plugged. I have a clear line to the injection pump, with no bubbles. It ran great all day the other day, but when I got home, it started stalling out at stop lights. When I got it to the house, I let it idle for a while, then pressed the accelerator, and it just kept idling. If I would hold it all the way to the floor for about 2-3 sec , it would finally rev up, but when I let my foot off, it stalled. It hasnt started back up yet. I've cracked the injectors, and they will put out the tiniest little squirt per rev. I try cranking with the throttle wide open. I have tested the lift pump, and it will shoot fuel 2 feet into the air AFTER the filter. I think I'm about to smoke the starter. It wont even try to fire. Up until just the other day, it would crank up and run fine in any temp, so I dont think the glow plugs could have failed that quikly, and The glow plugs do not explain the stalling. Is the inj pump dead? Please help. Thanks,
Greg Baker

I wonder if you're having some problems with a bad connection in the fuel shutoff solonoid inside the pump. Possibly a loose wire in the engine harness could cause problems too. Check the plugin that drops down to the engine in the front for bad connections, they get hot and melt from the glow plug wires going thru them. Just some things to check.

How many miles on the injection pump?

That's pretty much the symptoms I had when my IP gave up. Started fine, drove 25 miles, started noticing lack of power. Left engine idle while in store, came out it had died. Strarted right up, drove another 25 miles. Still now power. Couldn't pass a farmer moving his tractor down the road. I pull off to take a road will less hills. It died. Started right up, but no RPMs. Could hold throttle wide open, only an idle. Would start, idle, but not pull itself. Another IP solved that problem.

I've checked the shutoff valve by hearing a click when i pull the wire on and off with the key on. the ip has 41000 miles on it, but it is a 94.

also, when it is running down the road, it makes plenty of power. its only when i let off on the throttle too quickly that it stalls and wont start again.

any thoughts on the best way to remove the ip? how do you get to that bottom nut on the ip. i dont see how to get a wrench in there. also, my box end wont fit over the left side nut. maybe i'll grind the wrench. how do i preserve timing? will i have to time the new one, or is the static timing set on these?
thanks guys
