Help. RPMS GO up X does not go

2000 5.4 x 95k miles.

While on a trip when trying to accellerate, my rpms go up and then I back out it and it will go.

Changed fuel filter, cleaned injectors. I have checked trans fluid. Has anyone else had this prblem and what corrected it.

Thanks

Stu

Sounds like a classic "transmission is slipping" issue.

Are you using the right trype or regular tranny fluid as required?

Are you using synthetic tranny fluid? Some tranny's find synthetic too slippery to operate properly.

I would take to a transmission shop or dealer and have a free inspection from 2 or 3 places and get a better idea of what is going on.

Good luck,

Jeff

Was this in all gears? I talked to a transmission tech at Transgo performance and he said the early 2000 4R100's are notorious for some second gear thingy coming apart. It would only rev and go nowhere but eventually it would slip into third. He told me if that ever happened to not rev the engine and get to a shop asap. It wouldn't require a total rebuild.
