Power Steering Noise

I have 2001 XLT 4X4 with V10. When I turn my steering wheel just 1/2 inch, I hear a rather loud shwissing noise. It is continous as long as I have the steering wheel any where but dead center. I was told by my local service manger that is common in Ex's and Super Duty's. He also said it was a normal noise. Does anyone else have this noise? And is it really a common noise? I would like to get to the bottom of this before my warranty runs out in about 1400 miles. Thanks John

The fluid level is fine. I guess this should only be directed at owners of V-10 X's. I think the 6.0L & 7.3L have a different system. I guess there is a test that checks to see if your fluid is getting airrated? Does someone know of this test?

You would probably see bubbles in the fluid.

Be sure the dealer has a log of your complaint so that when it goes out 50 miles past your warranty you have something to fall back on.
