Exclamation Stop the madness...mine!

I've been trying to find info on the difference between the reverse water pump assembly and the norm. Between myself and my "when all else fails" guy, every yard in no.east Texas & Okla. has been searched for a timing chain cover that would match the one off my van. Mine broke after water pump bolts broke and the cover had to be removed to remove the broken bolts from the block. They'd corroded in the aluminum, basicly "weilded together". We opted to get the cover that has water pump ports pointed reverse of the broke cover. My question is, what modifications are needed for the water pump to spin in the right direction? Is this even possible to do? The belt/pulleys seemed to be exactly like a friends truck, same yr opposite cover. Is this done inside the pump? Anyone have this problem before? Any answers to a fix for my headache would be apreciated.

I have seen 3 different timing chain covers that will fit, have only seen 1 like mine, and its broke!!!!! I need to load up my saws and stuff and go back to work, wife'd rather starve than let me put tools in her car.

Probably get more responses if you post in the forum covering whatever engine it is.

which engine?

I know it has to do with the way the belt is routed. does your fan have one big nut? which way is it threaded? all of this matters. if you turn the pump the wrong way it wont cool, if you put the wrong pump in the wrong housing it wont cool.
if you can post the casting # you need, and engine size, may have a used one.

Instead of trying to retrofit a v-belt system (which likely means changing all the accessories and their brackets), why don't you get a new cover from Ford? The updated part number F6TZ-6019-NA had an MSRP of $115.06 in 1998.

If your budget requires you to go "used", then look on eBay. The going rate seems to be $15 to $40. You'll have to compare the pictures with your old timing cover to make sure you get the correct one.
