5.0L to 5.4L Swap

Heya, first thread ever so try and bare with me...

I have a 92 xlt bronco with the 5.0 dpi, auto, 4x4, low range, everything..

was just wondering if it was possible to swap out the old 5.0 with a triton 5.4, or anything bigger.

If you have any suggestions go ahead and tell me, I'll be glad for any information.

Thanks,
Doug

With enough time and money, anything is possible. I'm sure you could make the 5.4 fit (heck, if a 460 can be crammed in there, a 5.4 can too). Getting it to fit is one thing, getting it to work is another. In addition to new engine mounts, you will need an adapter for the transmission and the 5.4's computer and wiring harness. You might also have to upgrade drivetrain parts as the 5.4 puts out much more torque than the stock 5.0. I can't imagine the cost involved but I'd bet it's ridiculous, even if you do much of the work yourself. My suggestion would be to go with a 351W. You can build them to put out tons of power and the aftermarket is great. It won't be as unique as a 5.4 but it would be cheaper, easier and allow you to roast just about any other truck out there.

Fordication is new and has a neutral reputation at this point.
I would have though with the correct wire harness and enough time this could be done easily. I would have thought that if you did it and took the transmission along with it with all sensors it should work easy. In fact I think I just read about it on some magazine. I will look. Ed

BroncoBlue, I've been looking into this a little more and found this site. http://www.modularfox.com/ It details swapping modular motors into Mustangs. I know you have a Bronco (great taste in trucks by the way) but I figure that there are some similarities as the bulk of these Mustangs seem to have 5.0 engines like you have. It might help anyway.
