Cranking with no turnover

The other day I was starting my 04 Escape, and this is the first time it happened, but I didn't get an immediate turnover, the engine/starter cranked, but wouldn't start. After stopping and starting a third time it turned over fine, and it hasn't happened again. I'm pretty much a novice with this stuff, and was wondering if it is something I should be concerned with or if glitches like that happen on occassion? Any info. would be appreciated.

If I understand your question correctly. You're saying the starter is running, but its not turning the engine over ? If so, it sounds like the starter drive.
