Question please help with steering 72 supervan

I have a 1972 ford econoline supervan. my problem is in the power assisted steering. the first problem was the ball and socket in the control valve was loose. I ordered a "kit" from napa that had a new ball and the seats and installed it. well now the play is reduced by about half, but now I leak a quart of P\S fluid in 10 mins driving.

What my question really is, how do I change it to manual steering. What
parts do I use? Can I just take the control valve off and screw a sleeve and tie rod end? I went to the @utozone and the @dvance and they had no clue what I was talking about. Is the front tie rod end the same for power and non power?

Please help me, I like this van but I am in to it for $850 now, and I cant put much more money in to it.

thanks in advance........

Phil

help is at hand!

for (fairly) instant relief of mid ford troubles, go visit and participate at:

http://econolines.ipbhost.com/

Lots of help for mid fords there. I have done a full PS swap on my 74 supervan myself - others have lots of help as well.
