Mystery Noise

My son loves his new SuperCrew Lariat, but was bothered by a noise that would appear and disappear. The dealer service manager heard the noise and kept the truck for a couple of days trying to find and fix it but failed. About a week later my son took it back again and left it. They called later that day and said it was fixed. They had to remove the fog lamps, put insulation around them and reinstall them - now it is quiet again. I would have never guessed that wind around the lamps was the problem. I think there is a Ford tech tip out on it now.

Interesting tip! Was it a whistling noise, or a rattle? Can you be a bit more descriptive of what the noise sounded like so I can file it for future reference?

He said it was like a squeal, not at all like wind noise. It had the dealer fooled, they pulled the wheels, checked the brakes, shocks, u-joints. No problems since the lamps were reinstalled.

Wow, that had to be really hard to nail down. Kudos to your dealer for finding it!
