Lightbulb air box or heat shield

trying to find out what i need to fab one up for a 2002 explorer with fipk

What are you trying to make - something like a K&N or MAC setup? Are you wanting an open air filter like the FIPK kits?

Heat shield should be fine. As I recall they mount the filter pretty close to incoming air so if you just fab some sheet metal to shield it from your manifolds it should be okay.

I just put one in on my F250 5.4L. The K&N came with a heat shield. If you need one then sheet metal with rubber around the edges to protect you and your hoses will do fine. Mine attached to the bottom 2 bolts of the evaporative canister.
