Here is what I am told.
03 motors have a diff dp then 04 motors. The 03 has a resonator in the dp,the 04 does not. The high pitched, jet like whistle comes when you put a dp on an 03 motor that originally had a resonator. If you look at the new Banks package they offer 1 dp with resonator for03s and one dp without resonator for 04s. I have a hog system on order and will let you all know.

You are correct they are different.

Did you call MotorHaven for your parts?

all that i have is a muffler delete.

as was said, you get the LOUD rumble of a big V8 (big american V8!), and a JET scream on accelration... you get both with an 03.

at normal driving, say 55-85mph cruise, you cannot even tell. at WOT from a dead stop, i pitty the poor ole lady standing on the curb when i leave a red light

I set off car alarms when it was straight piped !
around town it was acceptable...
but in MY Ex I have to disagree with you on the cruising sound...
it got too loud after an hour or so @ 80+ (long interstate highway speeds)...

course that could be my AGE rebelling more than my ears :-)

Nah !

we'll see how the turbo back does on my first long trip with it at the end of this month...

Without all the body work that we have, I think the pickup guys could live with it.........we have an echo chamber...

That was my thinking too Tim...
In pickups the noise is primarily behind the cab...
with our "buses" it's right under the passenger compartment !

first i went cat-back. not bad i liked it. then i added the downpipe, and left the cat. waaaay to much turbo whine for me. don't care for that jet engine thing. i haven't decided how i'm going to correct the problem.

Banks has a DP with a resonator in it, call MotorHaven and see if they have any DP with one in it.

I have said before that these things are very loud, and if your in the truck for 10/15 hours a day towing it could be a bit tuff.

HHHHMMM,
i guess too loud IS relative like this article states:
http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu.../sound/db.html
(anything with hyperphysics in it MUST be right !?!?!)

but I don't consider my turbo whistle LOUD...
of course if the windows were down, maybe so...
I just don't want to mess up my hair ---or rather, the horror of it,
if I messed up my WIFE'S - could you imagine the trouble I'd be in for THAT ?!?!!?!?!?!?

I installed a 4in turbo back hog system this weekend. No resonator, no cat, no muffler, and it exits out in front of the tire. Whistle is there for sure. Changes to loud exhaust sound under load. Really not bad at all with the windows up just cruising.

Cat-back was a piece of cake to install. If you don't have a lift you might have to cut the tail pipe.

Could you pull it off with just jacking up one side....rear end.
