Swap 4.0l Ohv To 4.0l Sohc
I Have A 1993 Ranger Xlt 4x4 With The 4.0l Ohv Engine And A4ld Auto Trans. I Can Get A 4.0l Sohc Out Of A 99 Explorer Sport With 26 412 Km For A Great Price. I Have The Computer And Wire Harness From The New Engine. What Will It Take To Make This Engine Drop In My Truck ?

Welcome to FTE!
As I understand it, you will need the complete donor vehicle engine and EEC system to do it, including the PCM, entire Wiring Harness, the Transponder in the Steering Column, and the Original keys (something about the anti-theft system). Also, one of the bolts on the bellhousing doesn't line up, but apparanty it doesn't matter.
As far as the mounts go, I think there is some work that need to done there, too.
In short, it's not a drop-in kind of project.

You won't feel much more power from the SOHC. It makes the extra HP at higher RPMs, that you will most likely never see anyway. Ask WXboy, he replaced his OHV 4.0 Ranger with a new Ranger with a SOHC, and was not impressed. I work at a Ford dealership, and the SOHC doesn't feel much better than my OHV. Just something to think about. If you have the engine anyway, it might be worth swapping, I don't know any details about it though.
